Dividing and Transplanting Perennials

Choose a cloudy day to divide and transplant perennial flowers to minimize stress on the plants. Water them well a day before to prepare.

Dig around the plant, lifting it gently from the ground. Use a sharp knife or garden spade to divide the plant into sections with healthy roots.

Replant the divided sections in prepared soil, ensuring they are at the same depth as before. Water thoroughly after planting to help them establish.

Keep the newly transplanted perennials well-watered in the following weeks to aid in their recovery. Mulch around the plants to retain moisture.

Monitor the transplanted perennials for signs of stress such as wilting or yellowing leaves. Provide extra care and attention as needed.

With proper care, divided and transplanted perennial flowers will thrive in their new locations, rewarding you with beautiful blooms year after year.
