Mastering the Heel Command

The heel command teaches your dog to walk calmly by your side. Start training in a quiet area with treats to reward good behavior.

Position your dog on your left side and start walking. Use a treat to lure them into the correct position. Praise and reward when they stay by your side.

Practice regularly in short sessions to reinforce the behavior. Gradually reduce the frequency of treats as your dog learns to walk nicely on a loose leash.

Correct any pulling or wandering off with gentle guidance back into position. Consistency is key to teaching a reliable heel command.

Remember to keep training positive and fun for your dog. Celebrate progress and be patient as they learn this important skill for walks.

With dedication and practice, your dog will soon master the heel command, making walks more enjoyable for both of you. Keep up the good work!
